A letter signed by 60 important personalities and friends of Greece, covering a wide range, from environmental protection and culture to trade, industry, shipping, services, tourism, construction and the world of science and of art, as well as mayors, was sent on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 to the Prime Minister. The letter points out the dangers of recklessly promoting investment in tourist areas, and calls on the government to strike a balance between promoting investment and protecting the country’s natural and cultural environment.
The issues raised in the letter are extremely important for Ios. Large-scale tourism investments are promoted in Ios, as our association has repeatedly pointed out, as well as large-scale energy investments (wind turbines). It is no exaggeration to say that Ios is the “Ground Zero” for the issues raised in the letter. It is important that the Mayor of Ieton is among those who sign it.
