On the occasion of the recent decision of the Council of State against the plan to privatize the beach in the area of Koumpara in Ios – a “conquest” for the people of the island who are fighting for the protection of the natural environment, its Cycladic identity, but also the preservation of of free access to its premises – the president and founder of the association “Save Ios” (Save Ios) Dimitris Vagianos speaks to elc describing the situation that prevails in Ios in recent years with the environmental degradation and the violations committed against its natural wealth by pointing out:“Our union was founded to put a stop to this absurdity. We do support the development of Ios, but in a sustainable and balanced way, and with respect for its environment and history”.
